If you haven’t received an SMS code to log in to your Novelist account, follow these steps to resolve the issue:
1. Wait a Few Minutes
Sometimes, it may take a few minutes for the SMS with the code to arrive. Wait a few minutes to see if the code comes through. There can occasionally be delays due to network issues.
2. Request a New Code
If the code still hasn’t arrived, click on 'Resend Code' to receive a new SMS code. Check if the new code comes through.
3. Check Your Phone’s Connection
If that doesn’t work, try turning your phone off and on again to refresh the connection. This can help resolve any network issues and allow the SMS code to come through. Make sure your phone has a good signal and is not in airplane mode.
4. Request a Reset
If you are abroad, it’s possible that the local carrier is blocking our SMS. In that case, you can request a reset and configure your authenticator. See here for resetting your 2FA code.
What Should I Do if the SMS Code is Not Accepted?
If you receive an error message such as "The code you entered is incorrect" while you’re sure you’ve entered the correct code, this could mean:
- The code has expired: For security reasons, the SMS code expires after 5 minutes. In this case, request a new code by clicking 'Resend Code.'
- You’ve used an older code: If you’ve requested multiple SMS codes, it’s possible you entered an older one. Always ensure you use the most recent code to log in.
